First Post: Q & A
This is going to be the first blog post that I’m going to be posting. I wanted to start this new blog by sharing some information about my fashion inspiration, my personal style, topics I will be writing about, and finally, where I hope to take this blog in the future.
I’m ready to begin this new chapter of my life. I have thought about creating this blog for the last couple of years. While I’m nervous about starting this blog. I’m excited to start this blog finally.
1. Describe your personal style.
I would describe my style as more minimal than anything else; comfortable and oversized are also other words to describe my style. One final word that I want to mention is vintage, it’s not the usual type of clothing that I shop for, but when I find a great vintage piece that I love, I have to buy it/them.
I’m really comfortable with my current style; it has changed a lot throughout the years, but I feel it’s almost a reflection of my personality. But growing up, people change, so what I wear now will be different from what I wear in the future.
2. Who are some of your style inspirations?
The rise in social media has made it so easy to find inspiration for putting together outfits or to help me in styling pieces in my closet that I usually don’t wear. The algorithm in social media content that I usually search for also inspires me in my own style, but there are also people I follow who influence my style.
These people who give me inspiration are definitely influencers that I follow.
Lucy Williams
Brittany Bathgate
Chloe Hayward
Lizzy Hadfield

3. Describe your blogging style.
This is just the beginning of my blog, so I wouldn’t have an answer about my blogging style now. The idea that I have about it is wanting this blog to be reflective of my personality. Visually, I also want this blog to reflect on my personal taste in photography and art that I love to watch or see.
This is something that will not show right away, but I hope to create blog posts that many people would love to read and appreciate the photographs I take and post alongside the blog posts.
4. What made you decide to start blogging?
I’ve wanted to create a blog for a long time, I started slowly writing and posting on this website, but my posting schedule before was very inconsistent, and the photographs and other content I created didn’t look aesthetically pleasing.
In these last couple of weeks, I decided to start fresh, delete everything I have ever posted, and start creating content that I like and visually looks like style.
The first thought that made me think about making a blog is because of the questions I was always asked.
Where did you get this? And that?
What products do you use on your face?
How do you do your hair?
Where do you shop for your clothes?
Having to answer these questions and people being interested made me think that it would be a good idea to share them in one space. Whether it is successful or not, I wouldn’t know, but it would be great to try and see how it goes.
5. Favorite fashion magazines?
Vogue, of course! It’s THE fashion magazine. I have only become a subscriber to Vogue magazine in the last two years, and I love the magazine. Many other fashion magazines are available, but they never piqued my interest.
But, there are some lifestyle magazines that caught my attention. I don’t follow them regularly, but I do look them up every once in a while.
They are.
Kinfolk
Ernest Journal
Cereal
In Clover
Another Escape
Cherry Bombe
Some of the magazines I mentioned above don’t include fashion but contain other subjects I’m interested in: architecture, food, travel, and nature. I hope to expand this blog from fashion and slowly introduce these topics. I want this blog to include all the different topics that I am passionate about and want to share.
I hope that others will like what I post and follow.
6. What are some of your current fashion obsessions?
Basket bags, I know they became popular a few years ago, but I still use mine. Usually around the summertime.
Shoes, I can never have enough shoes. White sneakers are essential, and I feel I can never get enough white sneakers.
7. What are the essential pieces you must have in your closet?
There are many essential pieces that I have. As I said earlier, my closet is full of classic pieces.
Due to it being summer, dresses are for sure a current obsession. They are the easiest item to wear during summer and are the easiest to dress up without putting too much effort into the outfit.
A t-shirt and white jeans, this pair may seem like a very simple or casual obsession, but when you find a good-fitting t-shirt and the perfect jeans, the outfit will immediately look better — especially with the right accessories: earrings, bag, shoes, and even hairstyle.
Blazers are also an obsession I carry with me, and I feel I can never have enough blazers in my closet. They are easy to dress up in a simple outfit. If I ever have any meetings online, they are essential. I have different sizes and fits that I think I have to have.
8. Where do you get your clothes?
I love shopping, whether it be full price, even though I always look out for sales, and second-hand stores and vintage shopping are all my favorites. There are also apps that I shop from that I love, although it tests my patience when trying to find pieces to buy.
Some of my favorite clothing stores.
Mango
Oak + Fort
Everlane
H&M
Gap
Urban Outfitters
Free & Easy
Some of my favorite shopping apps.
Depop
Poshmark
Goat
9. What cameras do you use?
I use a variety of different cameras to film and take photographs. I hope to add more to the collection as I create more content.
iPhone SE
Nikon D3500
Fujifilm instax mini 9
Pentax P3 35mm
JVC Super VHS Camcorder
10. What is your dream job?
Being the Creative Director of a fashion brand or having a brand of my own are two of my dream jobs.
During my time in school, one of my favorite parts was learning about the different jobs in fashion. I immediately took an interest in any creative job that was mentioned, from designing and creating collections to learning about marketing and creating advertisements, even the use of social media that was starting to be used as a marketing tool.
I hope they come true one day. One or the other.
11. Coffee or Tea?
Both! I can’t live without either.
I drink coffee to wake up in the mornings when I need to and when I need a midday pick-me-up.
Tea, I need throughout the day. Without it, I can’t go on with my day.
12. Heels? Or Flats?
Heels for a day I’m dressing up or want the extra height that day. I’m only 5’1”, so it provides a lot of help.
For every day, definitely flats.
13. Name three of your favorite bands or artists?
Michael Kiwanuka
Jacob Banks
LP
I listen to artists who have very unique voices and tones that are not common. I also want to add that when I listen to their music, it sounds like they are pouring out their souls into their music.
14. Favorite Quote?
“ Sometimes you just have to be brave. You have to be strong. Sometimes you can’t give in to weak thoughts. You have to beat down those devils that get inside your head and try to make you panic.”
-James Marsden
15. Can you name some of your favorite bloggers and why they are your favorite?
FIGTNY
A minimalist fashion blogger that puts together effortless looks and shares where she got all of her pieces to put the outfit together. Even though she has a minimalist style and aesthetic, everything she puts together is something I want to wear. I’m not one to usually wear color, so this fashion blog is one that I always come back to.
We The People
A fashion blogger that also shares their lifestyle: from hair and beauty, beauty, destinations, and city guides. This blogger's style is very different from mine, but whenever I want to try something new and different, I check out what she’s wearing and sharing on her blog.
Brittany Bathgate
Not a fashion blogger per se, but an Instagrammer and Youtuber whose style is very much like mine and whose aesthetics also fit mine. I started following her through the pandemic and haven’t gone back since. I don’t only follow her fashion but also her skincare, home, and all-over lifestyle.
16. What is a fashion rule you never break?
I’m a rule breaker. I follow no rules of fashion. I wear what I like and what makes me feel confident and comfortable.
We live in an age in fashion where there are trends not started by brands but by people. These trends are followed by people who like their style and copy it in their own way.
There are also people that dress for themselves in whatever they like and enjoy.
We live in the age of social media and self-expression. I think it’s a great way to live and dress.
17. How do you want to improve yourself? Any specific goals?
Health
I want to have a healthier lifestyle. With this, I want to be able to cook healthy food that also tastes great. I usually eat whatever is available in the kitchen. (Luckily, I still live with my parents, but they act like kids when buying groceries. They buy whatever they want, usually junk food).
Also, regularly exercising, I want to have a healthy lifestyle, not just temporarily.
Fashion
I want to stop being such a shopaholic. I usually shop for clothes in bulk, and sometimes I don’t wear everything I buy. At times, I have thrown out clothes with the tags still attached. The shame I carry is real.
I also don’t make much money, so I usually buy more affordable clothing, with the exception of some investment pieces.
I want improvement in my shopping habits by starting to shop from sustainable and eco-friendly brands. Research before buying with brands green-washing themselves by falsely marketing themselves as making sustainable and eco-friendly clothes.
Food
I want to improve my cooking as much as possible by making healthy food. I also want to try eating new foods that I’ve never eaten before. I’m currently researching Korean and Japanese recipes to try, for now. I hope to try even more different recipes from places across the world.
Travel
I’ve never taken time to travel before, and I want to make it a priority now in my life. Maybe some places close to home, but I also wish to visit other countries on my bucket list.
18. What are some of the sources where you get products to review on your site?
For skincare, I shop from Sokoglam.com, Stylekorean.com, and Ulta.com.
Haircare, I shop from Ulta.com, and Sally Beauty, and I’m constantly looking for more brands to try. Taking care of my hair has recently become a priority for me.
Clothes, I shop from the stores mentioned earlier in this post. I’m always searching for more brands to shop from. I want to focus on smaller brands if it’s possible.
I’m always searching for more brands and products to try; I also hope to try new products and learn about brands through recommendations.
19. What is your biggest challenge in fashion blogging?
Starting the blog was the first challenge I made for myself. I don’t feel I’m good enough to have a blog. Will the content that I’ll be creating be liked by people?
Another challenge that I have thought of is not succeeding with this blog. The thought of failing
New ideas are another challenge that I think will come up. What if I have no more ideas for new posts to write?
20. In the future, where do you hope your blog will take you?
My hope for the future of this blog is to create a community of like-minded individuals who share my passions.
I also hope to be able to make a full-time job out of this blog. To have my job be something that I’m passionate about is a dream that I think everybody has.
For now, it’s a hobby that I’m starting, and I’m very nervous and excited about how it’ll go.
